Meet the Team

Dedicated to advancing cancer research and empowering communities, our team brings together a shared passion for making a meaningful impact. Each of us is committed to turning this campaign into a powerful movement that supports innovation and drives progress in the fight against cancer.

OrGANISERS

  • The Founder

Anaid is the driving force behind the "This Is for Me" campaign. Inspired to take on a 100-mile race this year as a way to step out of the ordinary life filled with responsibilities—as a mother, scientist, and entrepreneur—Anaid decided to turn this personal challenge into something much bigger.

Rather than aiming to win something just for herself, she set out to achieve something for everyone and for a cause she deeply cares about: advancing cancer research.

Her passion is centered on getting groundbreaking research out of the labs and into the clinic, where it can make a real difference in patients' lives. Anaid’s vision for this campaign is rooted in the belief that by coming together, we can create meaningful change that benefits us all.

  • The Community Mobilizer

Richard Taylor is an extraordinary CRUK fundraiser known for his ability to inspire and mobilize communities around important causes.

Richard has been working tirelessly behind the scenes, connecting the dots with CRUK and bringing key sponsors on board. His efforts have been crucial in ensuring that the "This Is for Me" campaign not only meets its financial goals but also resonates deeply with the public.

Richard’s expertise in engaging supporters and fostering a sense of shared purpose has been a cornerstone in building the campaign’s success.

supportERS

  • The Power Behind Cancer Research

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence, and information.

CRUK funds groundbreaking cancer research and works tirelessly to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer, improving survival rates and outcomes for patients worldwide.

With a focus on collaboration, CRUK unites scientists, doctors, and supporters to advance the understanding of cancer and bring innovative treatments from the lab to the clinic, making a lasting impact in the fight against this devastating disease.

  • A Collaborative Force

The Crick Science Entrepreneur Network (CSEN) is a dynamic community of innovators committed to bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world applications.

Passionate about advancing cancer research, CSEN is showcasing their groundbreaking work as part of this campaign. They will also play a key role in delivering awards to participants, honouring those who contribute to the campaign and take on the challenge.

With a shared mission to advance innovation from the lab to real-world clinical applications and dedication to making a meaningful impact, CSEN’s involvement underscores the collaborative spirit at the heart of this campaign.

  • A Supportive Friend

Independent Cancer Patients' Voice (ICPV) is a patient advocate group led by patients for patients. We bring the views and experience of cancer patients, their family and carers, to the cancer research community. We believe that clinical research is improved by patients being partners with clinicians and healthcare professionals, rather than passive recipients of healthcare. ICPV members have contributed their views on many research applications, projects and papers since 2009.

VISION SHIFTERS

  • The Change Catalyst

Kathryn Simpson, author of Leading for Change, played a key role in shaping the early vision of this campaign. Her expertise in driving impactful initiatives helped Anaid refine the campaign’s strategic approach, ensuring that every step is focused on creating meaningful and lasting change.

While her involvement was brief, Kathryn’s insights provided a crucial foundation for the "This Is for Me" campaign, helping to turn a powerful idea into a cohesive, actionable movement.

  • The Narrative Architect

Vaishali Shah played a transformative role in shaping the direction of the campaign during the Crick Cancer Research Symposium 2024. In just a brief but impactful involvement, she challenged us to ask deeper questions about the campaign's purpose, driving us to refine our narrative. Her insightful focus on "Why are we doing this?" and "Why should the public care?" helped to crystallise the campaign’s mission into a compelling, emotionally resonant story. Vaishali was instrumental in securing the first patient and doctor testimonial, marking a pivotal moment in the campaign.
